SoCS: a new wrinkle

I just finished writing up some notes on a problem I had at physical therapy yesterday.

We were trying to tape my upper back/shoulders and inadvertently caused symptoms in my neck and made my tinnitus louder.

We immediately removed the tape but I’m still having some aftereffects today.

We are still looking for a diagnosis that explains all my medical weirdness but we aren’t there yet.

Meanwhile, I appreciate everyone’s graciousness and patience in waiting for my posts to appear. It’s been an intense few weeks, as you might have guessed in that I still haven’t done a post-election entry. I’ll get there eventually.

I’m trying to extend the grace and patience people are showing me to myself. Sometimes, I even manage it…

  1. It’s interesting how our body parts are connected like that, especially the back, neck, and head. Glad you took the tape off. Maybe there are clues in this new wrinkle. I hope you feel better soon. Regarding the election, it’s a hell of a lot to process. I’m still using mental escape as my main coping mechanism – like watching Christmas movies. Please do give yourself plenty of patience and Grace.

  2. sometimes it’s better without a diagnosis. My feet hurt when I sleep, I need to get Invisalign on my bottom teeth, I can barely hold a pen and I have little red polka dots on my face. There’s more but I’m sure you get th idea. It’s called scleroderma and there’s no cure or real fix.

    1. ❤ I'm so sorry for your struggles with scleroderma. I'm also sorry that the best the medical community can offer is managing some of the symptoms.

I have family members who have diagnoses for disorders that are not well understood and can't currently be treated. Still, I appreciate that their conditions are being studied and sometimes treatments are developed that help them. I'm finding that the societies that are dedicated to a particular disease/condition are often good resources for the latest research and how to access the latest treatments. That's why I'm hoping that we can reach a diagnosis for me to help get in touch with the right resources.

      1. thanks Joanne. I will be making my orthodontia appointment today at Loma Linda medical and dental university. It’s about 45 minute ride but hopefully well worth it
