Her death breaks my heart. A beautiful and kind woman murdered in her city.
” Dear Renee, there are many tears for you, including my own tears.
You were a beautiful poet; you were a wonderful mother and a person with concern for our world.
I pray her child can be okay and I pray she knows.
We remember her.”

Seeing what’s happening in Minneapolis is terrifying. I had a conversation with my dad last night that was frustrating though not surprising — the sheriff is telling dad’s congregation that ICE would only go into their church if he says there’s a criminal in there. I said ICE does what it wants because local law enforcement is not running that show, but I don’t know if he really heard that message. These are terrible times and I don’t know that people are prepared for what’s already happening out there.

That’s so scary, Laura. Praying for everyone’s safety. You’re right that most people aren’t prepared for this because it’s so far removed from our experience but I admire those who are stepping up to non-violently protect their neighbors.
