Our 2017 Chevy Bolt just passed 70,000 miles (about 113,000 kilometers). We still love driving it and hope to keep it for years to come.
With gas prices as expensive as they are these days, it’s especially nice to be driving an electric vehicle. Bonus: we own solar panels in a community solar farm, so charging at home is very inexpensive.
I’m just hoping that, when we do decide to replace our Bolt, we will have lots of EVs from which to choose. EVs are winning increasing market share in most of the rest of the world, so the United States will be playing catch-up after the damage the Trump administration has done to the EV industry.

We love our 2023 Bolt EUV! We havent pumped gas since 2022, except for an occasional rental on a trip. Obama had said we should be leading the way with green technology. Sadly, Trump signed it away to China.

Glad you enjoy your Bolt! I do wonder if, when we next need a new car, there will be any US contenders or we’ll have to go with a non-US brand.

I’ve had my Kia Niro hybrid two years. When I first filled it up and saw the mileage I could get with one tank of gas–over 525 miles–I was astounded. It frequently gets over 60mpg. I feel about EVs and hybrids the way I do about my son’s Boston Whaler, which won’t sink: if we know how to make a boat that’s unsinkable, why aren’t all boats made that way? Why don’t all cars have this type of gas mileage? Of course, I know the answer…

Most of the rest of the world has caught on and I think a lot of people in the US are realizing that gas guzzlers are too subject to fuel price volatility.
