It’s similar to the practice of non-violence, I think. Reacting with violence or negativity just multiplies violence and negativity.

Definitely. In the old days of counseling, direct confrontation was the thing, especially in substance abuse. I wasn’t much good at that. Besides cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing (meeting the person where he or she is first) is becoming more prevalent. Setting a good example is something we can all work toward in any setting.
