“To me, poetry is somebody standing up, so to speak, and saying, with as little concealment as possible, what it is for him or her to be on earth at this moment.”
– Galway Kinnell, American poet, who died yesterday at the age of 87

Strange timing to read this today. This morning I was thinking about writing a poem to express something without actually saying it. I’m not a poet, but poetry opens enables us to share in a different kind of way.

I hope that you did write a poem today or that you will write one soon. It doesn’t matter whether or not you define yourself as a poet; you can use poetry as a means of expression.

You are right. Perhaps I will write one tomorrow. It is certainly on my mind to do so. Thank you.

A poet friend posted a link to the NY Times obituary this afternoon, which ended with this quote. I felt that I really wanted to get this out today, even though I had already posted another time-sensitive One-Liner today.

Both were time-sensitive, it seems.
